Metso Minerals Office Building

Metso Minerals, a Finnish Company with offices in York, Pennsylvania, was in need of expanded room for its corporate offices. The challenge was to fit all Metso employees, currently scattered in several locations throughout York, into one space and still allow for potential future growth.

The site proved challenging with the building set into a slope. This allowed designers to provide at-grade entrances to the first and second floors on opposite sides of the building creating two main entrances, one for employees and one for visitors and out-of-town guests.

The three story building includes offices, a lunchroom/kitchen area, two large conference rooms and multiple smaller conference rooms, and an executive boardroom. Each wing of the building also has a coffee lounge area where employees can enjoy a cup of coffee and some conversation prior to the start of the day, as is a Finnish custom. The main lobby features a vertical linear wood grill wall in a natural maple finish.

The executive floor features a spa type area with showers for the many out of country travelers coming in straight from the airport for meetings, offering them a much needed place to recharge and freshen up. There is also a food preparation area for catered board meetings.
